The loft space of my house is double insulated with an insulating fibre. In the space close to the hatch we store cases when we are not traveling. Today I went to get down a case for my daughter and found that the underside was very damp.
On investigating further I found that the area under the cases felt wet to the touch. However, the area underneath the insulation was perfectly dry. Looking further round, the remainder of the loft (as far as I could reach) was all dry. I checked to see if there was a leak from pipework, the roof coating and joists and found no sign of wetness anywhere. There has not been rain overnight but it has been very cold.
Have you any suggestions as to what may have caused the wetness?

Rat urine.
