Have A Perfect Holiday With Amsterdam Hotels
Amsterdam is the largest city in the Netherlands, and also the capital. It has all the advantages of being a large city, history, culture, variety of foods, entertainment, and great pubic transport. But unlike most cities, there is little traffic, this is largely thanks to the canals that run through the city. The Dutch people are very accommodating and most speak good English, especially in the Amsterdam hotels and shops. Everyone is entertained in this old European city, whether its sight-seeing or partying you're after.
Staying in a comfortable hotel is a must, in order to enjoy all that Amsterdam has to offer. Whether you are on a budget or can afford four-star luxury, there are plenty of Amsterdam hotels to choose from. The two-star ITC Hotel is a friendly budget hotel located close to De Duif and the Willet Holthuysen Museum. Situated in Amsterdam’s Canal Loop neighbourhood, the hotel boasts spectacular views of the canal.
Amsterdam is renown for its large diversity of restaurants, especially in Asian cuisine, although most of it is tailored to the fairly bland local tastes and won’t have as much flavour as you would expect. Most of the Asian restaurants are found at the Zeedijk in Nieuwmarkt, which is often referred to as Amsterdam’s Chinatown. Most foods are of high quality, but avoid Indian cuisine as it is usual over-priced and of poor standard. For cheap, good value food, there are numerous falafel bars offering an ‘all you can eat’ salad bar.
Although the bars in Amsterdam hotels are nice, you won't get an authentic drinking experience unless you head to a local pub. There are over 1200 pubs to cater for the 700,000 strong population. They have an extensive variety of beers from all over the world, including stunning Scandinavian and American beers, Norwegian Porters and Imperial stouts. Try Heineken, the most popular beer to come out of Holland, during your stay in Amsterdam.
Temptations galore for kids (New York Daily News)
THE BRONX school where Mayor Bloomberg announced the city’s obesity rate is
declining has a salad bar in the cafeteria — and a McDonald’s right across the
street. And a Domino’s, a Dunkin’ Donuts and a Subway down the block. “There
is too much fast food around here,” said Ricardo Vargas, 14, an eighth-grader
at nearby Middle School 22. “You have a few spots where they sell fruits.”
