Samsung CLX 2160N - Print Quickly So You Don't Have To Hold Up

Compact style- The Samsung CLX 2160N printer is the smallest multi function laser printer on the market measuring a mere 16x14x13 inches and weighing in at a rather heavy 37 Pounds. The machine although small in size, is big in value considering that most multi-function laser's retail for US$ 500+ while this cute little grafter is a very affordable US$380.00. The printer is ideal for clutter-free spaces where small footprint is required. The best toner for this printer is the Samsung CLX 2160N printer toner.

Print quality- Print quality is really not good at all. Text is printed in chunky and thick characters with jagged edges. Photo print quality is plain terrible with a fuzzy appearance to images and a serious lack detail. Smearing is also common in terms of text over colour printing. The only real wow factor to printing is the vibrant ink colours and quality at 2400x600 dpi. Quality toner in vibrant shades doesn't say much when actual print quality is so poor. Photo prints are produced at 4 ppm and text or graphics prints at 16 ppm. Warm-up time is almost non-existing with first page text printing under 18 seconds and colour 26 seconds. Copying is a task quickly and painlessly completed by this multi-function device at 16 pages per minute in mono and 4 pages per minute colour. Unfortunately, photo copies resemble cartoon images.

Paper- The printer comes standard with a very limited 150 sheet paper tray. Media types accepted by the printer include Plain, pre-punched, glossy and recycled paper, envelopes, labels and cards. The maximum media size compatible with the tray is legal.

System compatibility- The Samsung CLX 2160N printer is compatible with all popular operating systems. This is fantastic news for Apple Mac and Linux users who often encounter problems with printer compatibility.

Manufacturers warranty- A twelve month manufacturers warranty covering printer service comes standard with the deal. Keep in mind that labour and parts coverage by warranty is very limited with terms and conditions applicable. Please use only genuine Samsung parts, consumables and service agents as any unauthorized workmanship, parts or consumables can lead to voidance of your warranty.

Connection options- Fast USB 2.0 and Ethernet connections are available on the printer. However you should invest in an USB cable as it is not included with your purchase. Manufacturers in general are stingy in terms of cable inclusion.

Con's- A major disadvantage to the printer is its paper jam tendency. This is a very time consuming problem as you are often required to dismantle the whole printer to fix the jam. Jams can be avoided by leaving prints in output tray for a while after production and by keeping the paper tray full. Avoid over filling the tray as this can also cause jams.

Toner- Starter Samsung CLX 2160N printer cartridge is included with your purchase, with an estimated 1500 black and 700 colour page print capacity. Replacement Samsung CLX 2160N toner cartridge have a 2000 page black and 1000 page colour capacity. Machine consumables are four toner drums, waste toner bottle and image unit.

Where can I find rather large, heavy duty recycling bins?

I'm trying to start recycling at my school and I was wondering if anyone knew where I could get some fairly large recycling bins that won't cost an arm and a leg. The materials I intend to recycle are paper and plastic bottles. I'm not sure if my school will get on board and want to get recycling started by buying the bins. If they choose not to, I will see if our band boosters would buy the bins if we could make a profit off the materials to help raise money for badly needed marching uniforms. thanks!

If you live in a large community with an established recycling program, this service may be provided free-of-charge. To find out, call the Public Works department at City Hall. If you live in a smaller district, or if the school is a private or charter school ~ the process is a little more difficult and will cost some money.

I set up a recycling program in our school several years ago. Our city would collect cardboard & paper on site, as long as we dumped it in one of their paper recycling dumpsters....which they "leased" to us for $45 a week.

As far as the glass, plastics, and aluminum....they wouldn't collect these on site and it was our job to bring them to the recycling center. We opted not to bother with the glass because of the weight, but chose to collect plastics & the cans.

To collect these items, I just bought several Rubbermaid trash cans with the wheels on them. We are in our 5th year of using them, and they've held up just fine :)
