Making A Nice Casual Meal
Everyone likes to be able to sit at home and enjoy a nice casual meal in their kitchen. Sometimes it is nice to just have a light meal sitting at the kitchen bar and possibly watch television or talk with a buddy. This will describe that possibilities while eating California rolls.
People live in all kinds of homes, and the way they are built is different especially in the kitchen. Many have a bar which connects the kitchen to the family room or dining room. To have great seating at this area, one can sit at are nice sturdy kitchen bar stools. There are an array of different bar stools available. Some are straight wood with a flat woods seating. Many types of bar stools swivel. They may be made of metal with a pad seating, or the seat can be like a regular chair with a backing.
The next type type of stool we can look are the wood bar stools. These are inexpensive, and can be purchased at any discount store. There are tall ones and shorter ones. They have a flat wood seating which make them simple to carry from one place to another. There are also the nice, carved stools with a swivel and a back. These are a bit pricier but nice to own.
Now, what is more interesting than the seating is what someone is going to eat while they sit at the bar. One good choice is a plate of California rolls. Different people make these items differently, but one certain item that is needed is rice. To make this easily, a good stainless steel rice cooker is needed. These are usually not too expensive, and they can come in sizes to make several cups.
There are many models of rice cookers which make big or small amounts of rice. They can be the older-looking models with a lid that comes off, or the newer models which have lids that tilt open. They also have a pretty design on the outside. They do not have to be expensive, and they can be small space-savers.
Other California roll ingredients include avocados, crab meat, seaweed wrapping, and cucumber. Ginger slices and wasabi is usually given on the side. These are perfect as an appetizer or a light meal at the bar.
To have a nice meal at home at at the bar, all one needs is some nice bar stools and a good dish. One way to enjoy a TV night at the bar is with some California rolls.
Seared Skirt Steak with Balsamic Cherry Tomatoes (Woman's Health )
**Ingredients**
2 cups cherry tomatoes
2 Tbsp balsamic vinegar
4 cups arugula
12 oz skirt or flank steak
**You'll also need...**
1 1/2 tsp olive oil
2 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
Salt and pepper, to taste
**How to make it:**
1. Heat oil in a cast-iron or stainless-steel pan (or grill pan) on medium
high. When the pan is very hot, season steak with a few pinches of salt and
pepper and add it to the pan. Cook steak for 3 to 4 minutes per side, until
it's caramelized and slightly firm to the touch. Remove it to a cutting board
to rest.
2. Meanwhile, lower the heat to medium and add tomatoes and garlic to the pan.
Cook for 1 to 2 minutes, until garlic is lightly browned. Add balsamic vinegar
and cook for 2 additional minutes, until the skins of the tomatoes start to
split. Remove the pan from the heat; add salt and pepper.
3. Slice steak thinly against its grain. Divide arugula between 2 plates, top
each pile with steak slices, and pour on cherry tomatoes and pan drippings.
