The Beauty And Convenience Of Cutting Boards

As a necessary and classy piece of furniture, a butcher block table is significantly gaining in popularity for serious home cooks and kitchen designers alike. Originally developed over a century back to meet the requirements of the butchery industry, they're now a central feature in any kitchen being perfect for expediently preparing and serving beef, vegetables, fruit, cheese and bread, without the requirement of separate cutting boards.

Durable and classy construction

A butcher block table is made from solid, durable woods like walnut, teak, ash, beech, hard maple and red oak. To be environmentally friendly it is great to go looking for makers that use (Forest Stewardship Council) FSC-certified wood from replenish-able plantations. These wood pieces are fastened together with either end grain or edge grain to give strength to the wood and stop warping or splitting. They are able to resist use, and knife marks do not readily show on the surface. Furthermore, they do not damage and dull costly knives. The cutting board must be one and a half inches in thickness. The thicker the butcher board is the more sturdy it'll be. The natural sweetness of the wooden butcher block can be mixed with powerful legs and frames in wood, chrome steel and granite. This creates a working piece of furniture that is practical as well as stylish.

Extra features

There are a spread of designs available that come with further features that can boost your work space area, provide further storage and make food preparation more convenient. These features include shelving, storage drawers, utensil holders, knife racks, towel rails, removable cutting boards, bottle racks and drop-leaf tables.

Transportable convenience

A butcher block table is available with the option of rolling caster wheels. This makes it so handy to move it wherever you would like for food preparation; perhaps near an electric socket if you're using an electrical knife, beside a window for additional light or to enjoy looking outside, perhaps into another room where you can see the television or keep a watch on the kids. The wheeled option also suggests you can use it as a serving trolley to bring food into another room and move it around as you serve your visitors.

Upkeep

Your butcher block table can be maintained with very little effort. However , it is patently essential to stop the microbial growth which could result in food poisoning so basic common hygiene sense will involve cleaning the surface with bleach or a natural vinegar solution on a constant basis. Mineral oil should be applied to the butcher block about once a month and left to soak in overnite. This seals moisture into the wood and prevents it drying out and cracking. It can also help protect against germs. Unlike vegetable or olive oil, mineral oil doesn't leave any remaining smell that would contaminate the flavour of the food being prepared on the cutting board. Many web sites and shops that sell butcher block tables will also stock food grade mineral oil.

Butcher block tables come in a variety of sizes, thicknesses, shapes and materials, with conventional, modern and country kitchen styles. Therefore , they bring a classy and classy touch to your kitchen design as well as being functional and handy, making food preparation a much more efficient and delightful experience.

Can you name uses for a license plate that isn't considered a normal use?

Can you name uses for a license plate that wouldn't be considered normal use? Example; table knife: a mirror, a screwdriver, a splint, and a letter opener.
Serious answers only! I will choose the best answer and you'll get ten points. Thanks!

The old timers would use a piece of metal like that to nail over a hole in the wall. Like mouse holes. My child use to like them to decorate her wall with. Like a picture.

DIY Cloth Napkins (Chocolate and Zucchini)

I am not very big on what the French call _**arts de la table**_

(literally, table arts), an umbrella term that covers the choice and placement
of dinnerware, silverware, and glassware, as well as flower arrangements and
any other table decorations.

I do appreciate a nicely laid table, and admire those hosts who devote time
and energy to thinking up seasonal themes and handcrafting little trinkets to
prettify each place setting (especially if it's done resourcefully, with three
pieces of string and zero budget), but my own style is definitely more
**minimalist**.

Round white plates (from Crate & Barrel, dating back to our California days),
simple wine glasses (we've been faithful to the C&S range for years), embossed
forks we brought back from Japan, and rosewood-handled knives bought in
Laguiole -- all of this we arrange in five minutes on dark woven placemats set
on our black wood and frosted glass table, and **call it a day**.

Well, not quite. There's the question of **napkins**, too. Unless it's a party
and there's very many of us, paper napkins (or worse, sheets of paper towel
torn off from the roll) feel all wrong to me: they lack ...
