Chances are, your mom knows that those cuts might not be from a tomato slicer. Parents have an uncanny way of knowing when their children are struggling with something or going through a tough time. Not always, but something like depression can be hard to hide from someone that really cares about you. Getting a depression test done, is a really good idea. Regardless of what the results are though, if you are cutting yourself, please talk to your parents about how you are feeling. Cutting is a way to cope, but its not the best way because you are really hurting yourself. If your parents knew that you were going through a tough time, they would be more disappointed that they weren't there to help and support you. Please tell them. Having their support, and feeling like you don't have to continue to hide, will most likely be huge weight off your shoulders. Talk to them and let them know, "I've really been struggling for awhile, and think I am depressed. I don't want to hurt you, but I do want you to know that I've been cutting myself to cope, and I really need your help and support." They will be able to see things from your perspective that way, and also be there to help get you through this. Please talk to them.
